Do you know how food makes Your body feel?

Maybe I should start by asking: Do you know how good your body is designed to feel?

Seriously.

Close your eyes for a minute & imagine yourself just waking up in the morning. You open your eyes just before your alarm goes off & you actually feel awake & have energy, first thing. You feel like you've gotten enough sleep & you are startlingly ready to get out of bed & start your day! You sit up & take an absolute full deep breath, your chest & lungs expand as you breathe clearly & deeply. There's no phlegm or build-up of any kind, whether it be from chronic sickness, smoking, or anything else. Perhaps even a smile comes across your face because you feel so dang good! As you step out of bed your body is pain-free. Maybe it's a little stiff, I mean, you just got done laying down for ~8 hours, but your shoulders don't ache, your low back doesn't hurt, your knees feel strong & stable, not weak, as you place weight on them & climb out of bed. You stand up, take another nice deep breath, stretch tall, & start the first step of your morning routine, with ease. You are truly looking forward to another day.

This is just a little example of how good your body is designed to feel. We're led to believe that as you get older your body naturally feels worse. My grandparents raised me & especially being surrounded by older generations throughout my life I commonly hear phrases such as "Aging sucks." "Be happy you're young." "This is what you have to look forward to." etc. etc.

I can't help but chuckle & shake my head a little. Simply because, I don't believe that.

Over the years I have personally experienced how good my body is designed to feel through experimentation with food, & some exercise, but mostly food. It's come to the point where I am aware of how food makes my body feel every single day. Whether or not I make a choice to listen to what my body is saying is another story, but at least I have drawn that awareness for myself. That is the very first step.

Everything described in the list below can be altered simply by what you are putting into your body via food. Remember food is fuel.
  • Quality of Sleep
  • Length of Sleep
  • Dental Health
  • Emotions - especially Mood Swings
  • Thought patterns, their clarity, & your ability to notice & control them.
  • Your Irritability Levels aka Patience
  • Joint Pain
  • Bone Health
  • Depression / Anxiety
  • Bloating / Discomfort
  • Bowel Movements - should be regular (2-3x/day) & solid

I am only listing things that I have personally had experience with. My favorite food movement to help you get in touch with what does or does not work for you, The Whole30, has a whole index on their website of testimonies & success stories from real people changing their bodies with food. Some of it sounds like pure magic.

That reminds me of some beautiful words my friend Devon shared on her Instagram recently: "I still believe in magic, like how our bodies are magic. Isn't it crazy that we put things in a hole in our face, that falls into a puddle of acid, gets broken down into elements, and literally becomes our cells! We are all alchemists!!! I mean, maybe it's not making gold...But maybe it is."

Just think of how different your life could be if just one of the items mentioned above was changed for you. You have the power to live the life you dream of. It won't come easy, but it most certainly simple. There's no quick fix to undo all the slow & treacherous damage you've been inflicting on your body for years & years & years. However, there is the undoing & the unfolding to discover yourself again, get your life back & put yourself first from here on out. I'm doing it & I'll help you do it too.
