Today I stand in the morning sun.
A thousand thoughts rush my brain and
the mind tries to compile them into an organized essay.

I'm standing in the middle of nature, completely alone,
staring down at my phone.
Suddenly I hear the thousands of birds,
with every chirp plucking a thought out of the air
and inviting me to be here,
be present.

Let the morning sun blind you.
Let the morning dew shimmer and shine
and get your shoes too wet.
Let the Robin swoop down in front of you and
look for his breakfast on this patch of grass.
Let the breath enter and exit
Let the thoughts come and go

I love the way my hands are aging
I love the wrinkles in my face
I love the way I spend my time
And the people who keep this pace

When all my days have come and gone
And my checks and balances are derived
All I really want to say is
I had a life well lived

Well lived with joy and laughter
Acceptance, grief, and pain
The full human experience
Give it all to me, again and again

Well lived with beauty + chaos
That was given or created myself
Learning how it is all just perception
So I plucked the norms right off the shelf

Well lived with tears and heartache
Knee deep in despair and the unknown
I'll remember that I chose this
I'll remember that it brought me home

In my final waking hour
As my being prepares to sieve
All I really want to say is
I had a life well lived

It’s in these quiet moments
of the heart
Where the truth peers through
and the awe strikes you.
That’s when I think,
where is my business
besides simply being?
And the noisy honking motorbike
revs by on the street
I smile + keep walking

Do dogs stare at the open sky?
Do they see through their eyes
like you and I?

How does one determine
what is divine?
How long will you keep telling yourself
that you're just fine?

Will you let your walls down?
Will you let yourself in?
Will you ever fully realize,
it's not about loss or win?

When does this happen?
Where does one go?
Stumbling down this path
May be the only way home.

It’s the only way that I know.

They’ll try to chance you,
it’s all they know,
but we’re called from something greater,
the wild unknown.


The soft whispers and pulls,
the deeper understandings ring true --
but to learn how to hold space,
how to know what to do?


Believe in yourself,
that’s all there really is,
because when you’re grounded there,
you’re grounded everywhere.


Oh, of course, it seems too simple,
and in some ways it is,
but that’s where magic lies
and awaits you…


Simply ask for guidance to begin.

There’s joy at the end of this pain
You are consciousness
You are magical


There are secrets in silence
There’s a knowing beyond words
You are just a vessel
You are just a speck
There’s a reflection echoing at all times
There really only is what you decide
You are dreaming
You are awakening


There are lessons in the silence
There’s a great teacher beyond words
You are just a student
You are just a child
There’s a great mystery, playing a song
There’s a grand invitation, inviting you along
You are nothing.
You are everything.


There is awe in the silence

The same morning mist
that rolls across the pond
and atop the trees
rolls out on your breath

The same bright star
that dances with our planet
across the great blue sky
asks you to dance as well
